Use of status discs
Status discs are attached to office doors, workstations, machines or devices. An adjustable display shows whether, for example, an employee is in the office, in a meeting, working from home, travelling, on holiday or does not wish to be disturbed. Conference rooms can also be equipped with status discs. Machines or devices can be marked to indicate whether they are currently in operation, undergoing maintenance, defective or out of service. Workstations can be marked to indicate whether they are currently available.
The status is easily set by turning the disc and can be updated at any time. They can be attached either with an adhesive surface or removably with magnets or Velcro dots.
The status discs can be customised with individual imprints such as logos or other information.
The display window can be customised with individual texts such as IN WORK / OPERATION / MAINTENANCE / FREE / OUT OF ORDER or MEETING / HOME OFFICE / PLEASE KNOCK / DO NOT DISTURB / NOT OCCUPIED.
Status dials are also referred to as status indicators, condition indicators, operating indicators, operating status indicators, status indicators or condition indicators. Other terms used are rotary indicators, rotary status indicators, mechanical status indicators, manual status indicators, rotary displays or status wheels. In industry and production, machine status indicators, operating status indicators, production status indicators, lean status indicators, shop floor status indicators and Andon indicators are commonly used. In visual management, visual status indicators, status markers, condition markers, visual management displays or mechanical traffic light displays are also used.
